Last November @british_design hosted ten practitioners, thinkers, theorists and makers working within the principals of circular design from 10 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa to participate in a series of design and knowledge sharing workshops in London. In collaboration with the @ellenmacarthurfoundation, Circular Design Lab, looks-into-the future of making through collaboration and what this might mean for materials, methods and objectives across the field of circular design. As part of the programme, we commissioned a series of extra short films to broaden the discussion of the role of design within the circular economy, and to give a lasting digital legacy to the amazing individuals who participated in the programme and their contributions to circular design. We’ll be releasing these films across the next few weeks and introducing you to our 2019 cohort, their research, ideas and work. As a way of bringing to life the ideas, concepts and conversations of our cohort, we collaborated with London-based Mauritian animator @stefan.iyapah who listened in and created animations in response to concepts being discussed; digital structures that morph, move, grow and reflect the futures discussed in these films.
