It goes without saying that 2020 has been a tough year for everyone. We've all faced our own struggles these past few months, but although our circumstances may differ we're united by the experience of sharing this year and it's events together. I've seen some amazing acts of human kindness, and it gives me hope that especially in hard times, we're able to lean on each other for support when we need it. Our movie Spontaneous is out now 💥 I had some amazing memories filming this a couple of years ago (in a world that was very different to the one we're living in now) granted this premise probably hits closer to home this year, but with some much needed satire and a heartbeat of hope at the center, it feels like the perfect time for this to come out. This morning I woke up to the news that my acting mentor, Fern Nicholson passed away last night in Perth. Fern mentored me in some of the most fundamental moments I can remember, and on top of everything that's happened this year, it hurts that much more to be away from home and hear this news. I've been blessed to learn from a lot of great people, but it's special when someone sees something in you before many others do. I remember spending every Wednesday night in your classes - they were the highlight of my week, and gave me hope that maybe one day I'd be able to pursue this dream that I'm lucky to be living now...For those who met or had the privilege to be taught by her, you understand what a selfless and radiant soul she had, and the enormous light she leaves behind. RIP Fern 🕊✨

🌈 Coming to the end of #pridemonth and thinking about how we carry this energy forward...if these past few weeks have taught us anything, it's the power of unity, when we come together and lift the voices of those that need to be heard... It's been 51 years since the Stonewall riots, (which were started in large thanks to black trans women) and here we are, still fighting for protection and equality for the LGBTQ+ and black community... I hope we can continue to honour the legacy of pride, by the exuding the same passion and courage that has brought us this far - not just through this pride month, but all year round.
